Every month, I have what my niece calls our “Aunt and Niece Day.” This day is extremely special to us. We get our chicken and steak burritos from Pancheros, loads of our favorite snacks, rent at least two movies and give each other matching manicures and pedicures.

While in the stores getting our snacks and nail polish, I passed the nail aisle and was mesmerized by a kiosk full of nail polishes. The colors were different, but striking, and each one had a shimmering element to them.

As I examined a bottle, I noticed this was not just any collection. It was King Kylie SinfulColors SinfulShine with Gel Tech. Yes, that’s right. King Kylie is the infamous Kylie Jenner.

Now, I have to be honest. My first thought was “Oh no! I can not buy this.” I am not the biggest fan of her and I would not contribute to anything she does or is part of. But I know that you should not knock something before you try it. Plus, her new collection was stunning.

After spending more than 30 minutes deciding on a color, my niece and I finally picked

“Karamel,” a beautiful nude mixed with a hint of pastel pink that looked like a great match with our caramel skin complexion.

Kylie Jenner’s collection with SinfulShine and Gel Tech is a newly released limited time edition that consists of 20 different shades of “Precious Metals and Crown Jewels,” ranging from subtle pastels to sparkling bold metallics.

This particular collection of hues is meant to go on in a two-step procedure: step one is applying your desired color and step two is applying the clear top coat. These steps take around 15 to 20 minutes, which includes a second base coating and drying time.

While my niece and I were blown away with the colors offered, I was quite upset that its permanency left much to be desired. The very next day after I applied this product, one of my nails was missing half the color, like it just mysteriously peeled off in my sleep. I figured maybe it was a fluke since my niece’s nails still looked great. So I repainted that nail. But by the end of the day, that nail as well as my the rest of my writing hand’s nails were all chipping and peeling.

In the past, I’ve found that low-priced, inexpensive nail polishes rarely last more than a day, but I thought with a name like Kylie Jenner that this product would last a few days. But really, how much can you expect from a product that costs $2.98 a bottle? They say never judge a book by its color; they’re right.

Overall, this collection is beautiful in its appearance but for a bit extra, you can buy another name brand and get a manicure that lasts over a week like nail polishes are supposed to. The only thing sinful about it is her putting her name on such a cheap quality product and charging more than $1.00 for it.
