The Philadelphia Eagles are going to the Super Bowl. After the injury to Carson Wentz, I never dreamed that I would be able to say that. However, after a 38-7 rout of the Minnesota Vikings, the Eagles proved to the world that you cannot count them out.

This Eagles team is special. They have everything it takes to win, and proved that while putting up over 400 yards against the NFL’s number 1 ranked defense on Sunday. The team has embodied the “next man up” mentality and have overcome key injuries in doing so. Blowing out the Vikings was a statement win, but there is still unfinished business.

Two weeks from now, the Eagles will be faced with a task that only one team has ever been able to do: Beat Tom Brady and the Patriots in the Super Bowl. The Eagles faced the Patriots in Super Bowl 39, and narrowly lost. Now 13 years later, they are back for their revenge. This history mixed with the “underdog” mentality is a recipe for a great game. The official Vegas line has the Eagles as 5.5 point underdogs against the Patriots, which is exactly what the team needs to hear to fire them up.

In the wake of Carson Wentz injury, Doug Pederson and the Eagles rallied around Nick Foles and never doubted that they would be able to win games; and that they did. Foles display against the Vikings could have had people mistaking him for Joe Montana. Over 350 passing yards, 3 touchdowns and a near perfect passer rating was a feat that no average quarterback could pull off. The confidence that flows through the Eagles is strong, and shows in the box score.

One more game is all that it takes to bring the city its first ever Super Bowl trophy. 60 minutes of the hard nose football that they have displayed this post season will result in the hoisting of the Eagles very first Super Bowl Champion banner at Lincoln Financial Field. The city is on fire right now and as long as the team keeps this passion burning, there is no stopping them. This team is special. This is our year.
