Rowan University announced last Friday that Chad Bruner of Sewell Township has been elected to replace Linda Rohrer as chairman of the Rowan University Board of Trustees. Rohrer served as chairman of the board for the past five years, during which time the size and enrollment of the university grew.
Bruner worked as an administrator in Gloucester County for a decade and held several positions during his 25 years there, including deputy human resources director, director of health and senior services and deputy county administrator.
“I am thrilled to be elected by my fellow board members as chairman,” Bruner said. “These are exciting times for our university, a period of unprecedented growth and accomplishment. [However], despite all of what we’ve done there’s still much more to do and I’m happy to be a part of it.”
Bruner, who was appointed to the board in 2013 by Governor Chris Christie, was reappointed this year. According to the article from Rowan Today, he had previously served as a secretary from 2013 to 2014, vice chairman from 2015 to 2016 and chair of the facilities committee from 2013 to the present
He was also appointed by the Board of Trustees to serve on the Board of Governors for a joint project between Rowan and Rutgers Camden, which is dedicated to developing a health sciences area in the city. Aside from his work on the board, Bruner also serves on the board of the South Jersey Port Corporation, which controls port operations in Camden, Salem and Gloucester counties.
Bruner is a native of Glassboro, and graduated from Bishop Eustace Preparatory school, Emory University (BBA) and Rowan University (MBA) with degrees in the field of business.
