Women’s track continues improving after Bomber Invitational

On Saturday, Rowan Women’s Track and Field traveled to Ithaca, New York to compete in the Bomber Invitational. No points were tracked in the meet, so the end goal for Coach Ringo Adamson’s squad was improvement.

“What coaches go for [in meets like this] is improvement. Faster times, heigher heights. If you can make improvements from your past week then you are on your target goal,” Adamson said.

As mentioned last week, it can be a bit of a struggle starting the winter season. Only the long distance runners have been competing since the fall, the rest of the team starting their season in the winter. Add in a lengthy winter break where the team is not together, it can be quite a difficult start.

You would not be able to tell that from some of the performances on Saturday, including that of triple jumper winner Angel Rowe. The senior jumper took first place with a mark of 37′ 9.25″ (11.51 m).

The relay teams both did not miss a beat from last season, the 4×200 meter relay took first, and the 4×400 meter relay finished second.

“That 4×200 was quite impressive,” Adamson said. “Two All-Americans weren’t even on that team. Aaniyah [Robinson] wasn’t on there. Myiah [Sturdivant] wasn’t on there. I put in a bunch of freshman and sophomores and they pulled it off.”

Rowan will look to continue their improvements next week when they travel to New York for the University of Albany Winter Classic on Friday, then to Pennsylvania for the Frank Colden Invitational on Saturday.
