Rowan Softball is off to solid start this season with a 5-2-1 record. Outscoring opponents 36-5 over their last four games, all components of this team seem to be clicking.

Even though early success is important when trying compete for an NJAC title, Head Coach Kim Wilson just wants to take things nice and slow during this early part of the season.

“We’ll take it one game at a time,” Wilson said. “The end will take care of itself if we do the little things right now.”

On Monday, the Profs defeated Rosemont College in a double header at home winning 12-3 and 14-0.

Senior pitchers Lauren Shannon and Jesse DeDomenico set the tone with Shannon’s five strikeouts in the first game and DeDomenico contributing with three strikeouts in the second contest.

With the Profs totaling 23 hits for a combined score of 26 between the two games, the bats were clearly hot.

DeDomenico is one of only three seniors on this team. Coming off such a feel good win like this one, as a veteran, she wants to continue preaching what she thinks will help this team in the long run.

“Just have fun with it.” DeDomenico said. “Enjoy every minute of it and work hard.”

The Profs kick off their yearly Florida road trip this Friday as they take on Becker College at Hancock Park in Clermont, Fl. They look to be successful on this trip like they were last year when they went 8-3.

Their hardworking mentality will be tested on this trip as they will play 12 games in seven days.
