Rowan women’s indoor track and field finished the season in the All-Atlantic Regional Track and Field Championships (AARTFC) last weekend, putting a bow on the indoor season and turning the page towards spring. The Profs finished tied for 15th of 55 total teams in the event, and plenty of Profs put some final highlights together for the 2024-25 indoor year.
In day one action, the 4×400 relay team consisting of Molly Lodge, Jasmine Pope, Jasmine Broadway, and Nevaeh Lorjuste placed third with a time of 2:54.17. Lodge also qualified for the 60-meter hurdle finals after running a season-best 7.83 time in Friday’s preliminary rounds.
Another relay made strides, as the distance medley relay, a team of Ava Rizzo, Paige Franklin, Lisa O’Sullivan, and Zoey Doelling, placed 12th on Friday, running a time of 12:46.26.
Lexi Bey took 12th place in the shot put with a throw of 11.69 meters.
Sophomore Emily Zanni placed 15th in the 5000 meters with a time of 18:43.67.
Rowan finished Friday’s action in 14th place with six total points.
Gabriella Pagano ran a 10:12.73 in the 3000 meters, finishing fourth in that event on Saturday.
Nevaeh Lorjuste placed sixth in the 400 meters with a time of 58.00. Her senior classmate, Anna Sasse, placed eighth in the mile with a time of 5:11.49.
Rowan did not gain any selections into the Division III Indoor Championships, which were announced this past Sunday.
SUNY-Geneso was the overall team champion of the Regional Finals with 106 points, a big win over second-place finisher and host Ithaca, who scored 81.83 points. SUNY-Brockport placed third with 30 points.
The event puts a cap on the season for Rowan women’s indoor track, which included a second-place finish in the NJAC Championships on Feb. 23 and a fifth-place finish of 13 teams at the METS Championships on Jan. 31.
The season took the team on many trips to Staten Island, New York, to compete at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, a trip to Boston to compete in the Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University, and trips to compete at events hosted at Penn’s Ott Center.
The indoor careers of Jasmine Broadway, Izzy Deal, Nicole Hanson, Molly Lodge, Nevaeh Lorjuste, Jasmine Pope, Anna Sasse, and Sidney Whetstone have concluded, barring any fifth-year or graduate student circumstance.
It also concludes the first indoor season for head coach Shedrick Elliott III, who was hired in July 2024. Elliott said previously this season that “you could write a whole other article” on the struggles the team battled through with injuries, illnesses, and various other mountains that the group had to climb in the 2024-25 season.
Now, the script flips to the spring, and we get another chance to see the vast majority of athletes compete outdoors.
The outdoor season begins on March 28 at the Danny Curran Invitational in Chester, Pennsylvania, hosted by Widener. Rowan’s home event will take place on April 12, the Oscar Moore Invitational at Coach Richard Wackar Stadium.
