Ever wonder where, how, and when you can spend Rowan Bucks or Dining Dollars? The following includes a beginner’s guide with all the basics you need to know about Rowan Bucks and Dining Dollars!
Meal plans with 7 swipes per week, 10 swipes per week, 14 swipes per week, or all-access include $100 Dining Dollars per semester. All of these plans come with $200 Rowan Bucks per semester as well with the exception of the all-access plan, which comes with $100 Rowan Bucks. The 30 block and 60 block plans include $75 Dining Dollars and $100 per semester. Rowan Bucks and Dining Dollars can be accessed through a student’s Rowan Card.
Both Rowan Bucks and Dining Dollars can be transferred, or carried over, from the fall to spring semester. However, only Rowan Bucks transfer over to the following academic year. Dining Dollars do not carry over from academic year to academic year.
Dining Dollars, according to Rowan’s frequently asked questions about meal plans, “are integrated into all meal plans to give you added flexibility and convenience. Dining Dollars may be used at any on-campus dining location and on Rowan Boulevard at food-only stores.” Dining Dollars are accepted at most of the food establishments on Rowan Boulevard with the exception of 7-Eleven and Insomnia Cookies.
Dining Dollars can also be used in conjunction with a meal swipe. For example, if someone orders a meal from the Marketplace in the Chamberlain Student Center, they can use their Dining Dollars to pay for add-ons or substitutions. This also works with Rowan Bucks.
Rowan Bucks can be used for much more in comparison to Dining Dollars. According to the same website mentioned before, “Rowan Bucks may be used at all locations both on- and off-campus that accept the RowanCard.” Rowan Bucks are a lot more flexible with where and how you are able to spend them.
Rowan Bucks, as stated in the quote above, can be used at many varying locations in the Glassboro area that signify that they accept them. These places will have a sign clearly displayed reading “Rowan Bucks Accepted Here.”
The access Rowan Bucks has spans beyond just food establishments. Some places a person can use Rowan Bucks include Barnes and Noble, various hair and nail salons in the Glassboro area, Shop Rite, and many more. Those with Rowan Cards can find all of the participating locations that accept Rowan Bucks on the “Rowan Card Locations” website.
For on-campus students, Rowan Bucks can also be used to pay for laundry on the Speed Queen app. They can also be used to pay for various events hosted by the university. For example, students were able to pay for their tickets for the fall comedy show with their Rowan Bucks.
Students can check the balance of their Dining Dollars and Rowan Bucks on the myrowancard.rowan.edu website. Here, Rowan University students can also check their meal swipe balance for the week. They can also check their balances on the GrubHub app if their Rowan account is connected to the app.
Rowan University students seem to really enjoy the convenience of having Rowan Bucks and Dining Dollars. Deekshitha Vinod, a biological sciences major, is an upperclassman and had some great advice to share on how to budget your Rowan Bucks.
“I think I tend to use the Dining Dollars first and then use the Rowan Bucks because I know that Rowan Bucks can be used for a lot of other things on and around campus, whereas Dining Dollars can only really be used on food…Keep track of how much you’re spending and try not to go overboard all at once,” said Vinod.
Anjela Anand, another biological sciences major and upperclassmen, adds her advice on how to make the most out of your Rowan Bucks as well.
“Space it out. Don’t spend it all in the beginning of your first semester…you’ve already paid for [the meal plan]. You’re just losing money if you spend it all quickly,” said Anand. Katie Mains, a first-year graphic design major, is new to campus, but she expresses how she enjoys the convenience of having Rowan Bucks and Dining Dollars on hand. “This is my first semester, but so far I’ve been rationing them pretty well…I definitely prefer using my Dining Dollars first, then my Rowan Bucks,” said Mains.
Overall, Rowan Bucks and Dining Dollars are a great resource built into meal plans to give students more flexibility in their spending while in college.
