Rowan women’s soccer scored six times Saturday evening en route to a shutout, 6-0, victory over the Ramapo Roadrunners at the Rowan Soccer and Lacrosse Complex. The Profs now upgrade to a 13-1-1 record on the season, while remaining unbeaten in their last ten matches and securing the team’s eleventh clean sheet, which leads the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).
“It’s always nice to get a win in the last regular season game at home,” head coach Scott Leacott said. “We’re excited to send the seniors off with a nice little gift.”
The Rowan Soccer and Lacrosse Complex was packed with family and friends, as well as alumni, to celebrate the elite eight of seniors on the 2025 roster.
“This was the best four years of my life, it went by so fast,” senior Lianna SanFelice said. “To get the win with everyone, like, this is such a good group and it felt really good.
It indeed was SanFelice who would help contribute to the first Prof goal of the outing. She played a glided pass into the box to find Olivia Giordano, who took a far touch to her right. Olivia Giordano chased, and her right footed shot beat the keeper six yards out in the 16th minute.
A dozen minutes later, Julianna Giordano took her space and fired a through ball into the feet of her sister Olivia Giordano as she entered the box. Olivia Giordano’s first attempt was saved, but before the ball could trickle out of play, she recovered at the near post and hit the roof of the netting on a tough angle to double her tally and Rowan’s lead.
Now on the right wing with 37 minutes gone, SanFelice kicked the ball ten yards ahead as she simultaneously went around her defender to complete a nifty move. She then sent in a cross, and Sara Wiedeman did the rest by curling the ball into the bottom left corner to give SanFelice her NJAC leading ninth assist of the fall.
Before halftime, sophomore transfer Renata Cicala was fouled from behind to draw a penalty, which gave way for SanFelice to step up and assertively convert Rowan’s fourth and final goal of the first half. SanFelice would finish the night in stellar fashion with three goal contributions.
Milestone watch was in effect entering the second half as Bella Moore played an ambitious cross to the far post where Olivia Giordano sprinted in for a header in the 54th minute. The moment it dinged off the crossbar and in, Olivia Giordano had scored her 50th career goal as a Rowan Prof.
“Before this game I knew if I scored three [goals] it was fifty, but I obviously didn’t think I was going to score three,” Olivia Giordano said. “It was honestly an amazing ball by Bella”
Nearing game’s end, Alexis Dzierzgowski would make it, 6-0 ,thanks to a brilliant corner from fellow freshman Addison Hammond to conclude Senior Night.
“All of the seniors are my best friends,” Olivia Giordano said. “I’m glad I could spend it with them and celebrate the win with them.”
With Rowan women’s soccer still atop the NJAC table with 22 points, the brown and gold will look to clinch the regular season title next Wednesday with a road win against The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), conference champions of the previous two years.
“We’re in our mantra of win the next game,” Leacott said. “We’re still the only team that has their destiny in their hands, so, we’ll hopefully keep that destiny.”
