Senior guard Summer Crilley and the Rowan women’s basketball team wrap up their regular season campaign on the road Wednesday night against Ramapo College.
The Profs are currently 14-9 and sit in 4th place in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC). With a win vs. Ramapo, Rowan will have a home game this upcoming weekend in the conference tournament.
Crilley has started every game for the Profs over the last two seasons. This season, she leads the team in assists, as well as three-point percentage and free throw percentage. She is also second on the team in rebounds.
“This season has been different than the rest because I’ve had to come into a leadership role,” Crilley said. “I have definitely felt a little more pressure while on the court, but in a good way. I have been the main speaker for the team this year, which is something I’ve enjoyed.”
The brown and gold have had a winning record in each season of Crilley’s career, including this year. Her, along with three other seniors, look to finish their careers strong as the regular season comes to a close and the NJAC tournament begins.
As far as her whole experience at Rowan, Crilley has loved being in Glassboro. And, if it wasn’t for a couple of current Profs, she might not’ve been where she is today.
“It’s been an awesome experience,” Crilley said. “The girls I’ve played with here have all become like family to me. It’s been great… My two best friends came here to play basketball,” Crilley said. “They pushed Gab [Lisella, head coach] to recruit me. I also already knew Alex [Raring]. All of them persuaded me to come and as soon as I visited the campus I loved it.”
Crilley is currently studying elementary education. Once she graduates, she plans on being a teacher in the area or back in her home town.
