Donnie Farrell’s death 11 years ago still rings through the consciousness of Rowan University and its students.
Rowan has immortalized Farrell through his memorial located at Triad Apartments, the Donnie Farrell Memorial Scholarship and the Lax for Donnie Tournament held by the Rowan Lacrosse team for the last 4 years.
The National College Lacrosse League spoke on the turnout of the last tournament, saying there were “8 teams in total, the most ever in the tourney’s short 4 year history.”
Alumni who attended Rowan University at the time can still accurately recount the events at hand.
Farrell was attacked outside Triad Apartments by a group of individuals who remain unidentified to this day.
Farrell has also been immortalized through the Donnie Farrell Project site.
The Donnie Farrell Project is a group of journalists who help carry on the legacy by reporting testimony from Farrell’s parents, lacrosse teammates and peers.
Farrell will be remembered not only by those who have experienced the impact he had on others, but the impact these memorials to him have on the minds of future generations.
There is a reward up for anyone who can provide information that could lead to an arrest. More information can be found on the Gloucester County website.
