The Philadelphia Eagles may not have started the season as expected for the reigning Super Bowl Champions, but a much-needed win in London followed by a boost in personnel have the Eagles in the hunt for first place in the NFC East.

After losing Torrey Smith in the off-season and Mike Wallace in the beginning of this season, the Eagles acquired wide receiver Golden Tate from the Detroit Lions for a 2019 third-round pick right before the trade deadline passed. Tate is a talented receiver that can replenish this team’s receiving core.

Along with working out Tate for the past two weeks, the Eagles have introduced Darren Sproles and Tim Jernigan back to the practice squad. Jernigan has been sidelined since the off-season by suffering a back injury while Sproles has been out with a hamstring injury since Week 1. Sproles can revamp the rushing offense and bolster the special teams and Jernigan can provide more depth to the defensive front that just lost Derek Barnett.

Although the Eagles had a bye week on Week 9, this week can be viewed as a win for Eagles fans. Not only did the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys lose, the Redskins lost key players due to injuries while the Eagles gained players that will improve their team in the second half of the season.

This Sunday night, the Eagles meet with their biggest rival, the Dallas Cowboys. This game, although it’s not an absolute must-win for the Eagles, can take significant pressure off them going forward into the season.

On the other hand, this is a must-win game for the Cowboys to keep their postseason hopes alive. With an Eagles win and a Redskins loss, the Eagles will tie for first place in the NFC East, advancing to 5-4 while dropping the Cowboys to 3-6.

Despite getting off to a rough start, the Eagles have managed to get to the halfway point of the season at 4-4. With 5 of their last 8 being divisional match-ups, the Eagles playoff chances are truly up to them to decide.

The Eagles are breaking out their alternate all black uniforms for this one and are typically only allowed to wear their alternate uniforms twice per season.

It’s the Cowboys.
