The Rowan women’s lacrosse team is returning with optimism and confidence but a need for revenge after finishing as the second-best team in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) last season.
After dropping the conference championship game to The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) 12-17, the Profs reinforced their core with 13 freshmen and six returning starters, including five seniors: Lillianna Carbone, Jess Havers, Kacey McCann, Shannen Sterner and Julia Stumpf.
Leading the Brown and Gold with 32 goals and 13 assists last season, Havers has the star power and leadership a young group needs.
To add more experience, Lindsay Delaney will mark her 13th-year as head coach of the program.
Ranked second in the NJAC Preseason Coaches Poll, the Profs began their season with an overall record of 1-1.
The Profs began their campaign on the road against Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania defeating the Grizzly Bears in a close, back and forth game that was capped off by Ashley Lechliter‘s game winner with 2:31 left in the game.
In the team’s second game of the season, they traveled to the nation’s capital to take on Catholic University, where they suffered the first defeat of the season in a blowout, 18-6.
After two more road games against Salisbury University in Salisbury, Maryland and Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey, the Profs will play their home opener on March 11 against Washington College (MD) and commence NJAC competition on April 7, when they visit the defending conference champions, TCNJ.
