When beauty and brains mix, the result can be spectacular.
Jennifer Caudle, M.D. is a primary care physician at the Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine (RowanSOM) and a former Miss America contestant. This month, she’s been asked back to the contest as a judge.
Caudle first earned the title of Miss Iowa in 1999 and went on to compete in the Miss America Competition. Her cello performance in the competition was awarded the Bert Parks Non-Finalist Talent Award.
Caudle’s involvement in the nationally recognized pageant gave her the scholarship money she needed to graduate from Princeton and go on to complete medical school at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Now, she is a practicing family physician and assistant professor at RowanSOM. Additionally, she is a spokesperson for the American Osteopathic Association, a radio host for ReachMD, the creator of “The Physicians Blog” and continues to be a cellist. She has become an on-air health expert and has made appearances on several networks such as CNN, The Dr. Oz Show and FOX News.
Recently, Caudle earned the opportunity to return to the Miss America stage as a judge. Caudle happily accepted the invitation, saying that competing in the Miss America Competition was “life-changing.”
“I learned so much through the Miss America Organization. I had the opportunity to perform community service and receive scholarship money that not only helped pay for college but medical school as well,” Caudle said. “To return as a preliminary judge is an honor.”
The Miss America Preliminaries require Caudle to judge the contestant’s interview, onstage question, lifestyle and fitness, talent and eveningwear. The preliminaries will be Sep. 6, 7 and 8 and the final competition will be on live on television on Sept. 11.
Miss America contestants dedicate tens of thousands of hours to community service and have raised over $13 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and scholarships for Miss America since 2007. The Miss America Organization is one of the largest providers of scholarship assistance to young women in the United States.
