With a high-scoring Week 3 in the books, “Shop or Drop” is back, giving you advice on who to pick up and drop every week in your fantasy football league.
Waiver Wire additions
De’Von Achane – RB – Miami Dolphins – 41% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
What an explosive outing from halfback De’Von Achane. The rookie from Texas A&M rushed for 203 yards on 18 attempts, caught four passes for 30 receiving yards, and scored four touchdowns. The most impressive part about this stat line is that Achane put up these numbers as the RB2 behind Raheem Mostert. It is evident that there is enough room for both speedsters in Miami’s running back room. This lethal offense will continue to find ways to get Achane involved in the running and passing game.
Roschon Johnson – RB – Chicago Bears – 48% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
Although Chicago’s offense has looked deflated lately, Roschon Johnson has been a bright spot. The rookie who played his college ball alongside Bijan Robinson is slowly taking over this backfield. In the loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, he had one more carry than lead back Khalil Herbert. The Bears offense is bound to get going, and when it does, expect Johnson to get a majority of the touches in the run game.
Joshua Dobbs – QB – Arizona Cardinals – 3% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
Joshua Dobbs just led the 0-2 Cardinals to a two-score victory over an exceptional Dallas Cowboys defense. Over the past few weeks, Dobbs has thrown for 417 yards, rushed for 96 yards, and scored three total touchdowns. Arizona could easily be 3-0 this year, and if Dobbs continues to ball, the Cardinals may not immediately activate QB Kyler Murray once he’s eligible to come off the IR.
Adam Thielen – WR – Carolina Panthers – 47% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
At 33 years of age, it appears that Adam Thielen still has a lot left in the tank. This past Sunday, he caught 11 of 14 targets for 145 yards and a touchdown. What is even crazier is that Thielen put up these numbers with Andy Dalton slinging the rock. This was no fluke though, because in Week 2, the two-time Pro Bowler caught seven of nine targets for 54 yards and a touchdown. Whether it is Dalton or Young taking the snaps for the Panthers, Thielen is looking like a pure WR1.
Jake Ferguson – TE – Dallas Cowboys – 41% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
It is taking some time, but Jake Ferguson is slowly filling into Dalton Schultz’s former role in Dallas’ offense. In a game where the Cowboys only scored one touchdown, Ferguson caught five passes on seven targets for 48 yards. The stat line is nothing spectacular, but tight ends are hard to come by in the fantasy world. If Ferguson can start finding the end zone, he will be a top-10 tight end in no time.
Joshua Palmer – WR – Los Angeles Chargers – 5% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
With the unfortunate news regarding Mike Williams tearing his ACL, the Chargers will need another receiver to step up. Luckily for them, Joshua Palmer did just that in the win against the Minnesota Vikings. Herbert looked his way seven times, as Palmer reeled in four passes for 66 yards and a score. The deep threat looks to slide right into the WR2 role in this explosive Chargers offense.
Players to Drop
Kadarius Toney – WR – Kansas City Chiefs
Last year, Kadarius Toney had us on the edge of our seats as we watched him juke out the entire Eagles’ defense in the Super Bowl. This season, however, has been a different story. Toney has disappointed, catching only seven passes for 35 yards through three weeks. To make matters worse, in a game where Kansas City dropped 41 points, Mahomes only looked his way once.
Jahan Dotson – WR – Washington Commanders
Aside from the brutal loss this past Sunday, Sam Howell and the Commanders were playing some quality ball. They have a ton of talent, with their offense featuring Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel, Brian Robinson, and Antonio Gibson. Unfortunately, second year receiver Jahan Dotson has not been as involved as we all hoped him to be, and seems like he could be the odd man out at the moment.
Dalvin Cook – RB – New York Jets
The Jets made a splash this offseason when signing veteran running back Dalvin Cook. The four time Pro Bowler has yet to make an impact, as he only rushed for 18 yards on eight attempts this past Sunday. With Breece Hall remaining in the RB1 slot, Cook’s production will most likely see no increase.
If you see some of these guys on your waiver wire, try and scoop them up. Although some players may not have a spot on your starting roster at the moment, injuries are bound to happen. When everyone else in your league is scrambling around looking for replacements, you will remember that you read “Shop and Drop”, and reinforcements are already sitting on your bench.
