As we enter the final few weeks of the semester, graduating students are asking the same existential questions: “Am I ready to enter the real world?” and “What does life look like after graduation?” Although these questions are dreaded by seniors, they’re appropriate to ask.
Shake off that existential dread, because life does not end after college.
For the angsty seniors who are ready to graduate but afraid to leave the safety school provides, do not worry, because Rowan has myriad resources for you.
The Whit Staff encourages all soon-to-be graduates to utilize on-campus sources that are specifically designed to help build professional confidence.
For this editorial, The Whit Staff will list such resources, provide descriptions, and tell you why you should make use of them.
Success Coaching
Students who are feeling completely lost should book an appointment with a success coach. According to Rowan’s website, “The Success Coaching Program supports students in each dimension of their well-being. Success Coaching conversations are led by the student, in order to meet their individual needs and goals. Success Coaches strive to help students adjust to the rigors of higher education, gain a better understanding of campus resources, develop plans for their academic and social progress, and much more.”
It is encouraged that students prioritize this resource before graduating, but success coaches are equipped with the skills to deal with students of all levels. Students can either book an online appointment or an in-person appointment. Coaches cater to a student’s individual needs.
Their hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students can either send an email, book on Rowan Success Network (RSN), or call 856-256-4459.
Career Services
Students who are unsure about their resumés and cover letters should ask a career counselor. Individuals at the career center are specially prepared to edit resumés and cover letters for students of all backgrounds.
The career center hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Their office is located at Savitz Hall on the third floor. Students can send an email, book on RSN, or call 856-256-4456.
Whether you’re an English major or an engineering major, the career center has someone for you.
Writing Center
Whether you feel that your writing is not on the level you hoped it to be, or you want to work on writing confident emails, the writing center is just the place.
The Writing Center’s hours are as follows: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from noon to 6 p.m., Tuesday from noon to 9 p.m., and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
