On Sept. 2, a water main break was found near Rowan Hall, with temporary repairs made later that day, in time for the start of the fall semester. On Sept. 8, Rowan, Engineering, Wilson, Robinson, and James halls were without water and shut down in order for permanent repairs to be made.
Brian Ewan, Assistant Vice President of Operations and Plant Management, confirmed that the repair was made successfully on the morning of Sept. 8, and “water was restored at about 12:25 p.m.”
The repairs did not affect classes that took place on Sept. 9 and were not meant to interrupt students on the day repairs took place.
“The outage was planned around the affected buildings’ expected occupancy– which was very low– to avoid affecting students. One building had an event and bottled water was provided but was not needed because the water was restored prior to the event start. No permanent damage resulted in this water main issue,” said Ewan.
