I have always adored these award shows as a young teenager in the Jersey urban neighborhoods. I remember my first award show event as it played a vital role in my career. It was near the middle school graduation; I won the Dr. Marian Dolan award for my music excellence. My musical excellence impacted the community and showcased my vocal ability as a male tenor and my academic endeavors.
I knew I’d enjoy some of these admirable award shows. Some may say that the point of these awards isn’t mainly to be entertaining but to highlight the dedication of artists and actors in the industry.
On Feb. 2, 2025, the 67th Annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast on CBS for one night only. This event will honor the best recordings and compositions from artists in 2024. Although, this major event is nearly four months away on our calendars. There is still time to predict who will win big at this ceremony.
The nominations will be announced on Nov. 8 with guest appearances from some of music’s leading artists. If we can sit back and ponder, 2024 has some great music creativity throughout the year.
From the sweet and girly romance of Sabrina Carpenter, the edgy alternative form of pop from Billie Eilish, and the Texas cowgirl style of Beyonce, here are some contenders for this upcoming Grammys ceremony who I think will win big this year.
Kendrick Lamar had a major beef with one of the biggest rap stars on the planet, Drake. This “beef” somehow divides a wide range of fans between both artists. It was diss track after diss track over the past three months. Eventually, Lamar earned the crown as the winner.
“Not Like Us” is regarded as one of the catchiest and most lethal blowing diss tracks ever made. I would not be surprised if this track earned a Grammy. Due to the popularity of the track and its appeal, it should be simple to figure out.
“Say you can’t sleep, baby, I know, that’s that ‘me’ espresso.”
These lyrics have teenagers and adults singing for weeks into months on TikTok. Sabrina Carpenter had a terrific year musically and commercially. “Please Please Please” and “Espresso” are some of the most popular singles of the year so far.
Sabrina Carpenter could get the brooms out and sweep the Grammys. If nominated, Carpenter could receive nominations in categories: Song of the Year and Album of the Year. I don’t necessarily think her album was the best this year, but who knows what will happen next.
Taylor Swift has always been a favorite celebrity in these awards shows. She could sweep an award show with her eyes closed. For example, she walked away with seven awards at the MTV Music Awards, the most in that night.
If you didn’t know, Taylor Swift has the most wins in the Album of the Year category for any artist at the Grammys. The Tortured Poet Department was indeed the highest-selling album of this year. It filled the Billboard Hot 100 with many songs coming from this album. Would it be a treat to see Swift with an Album of the Year award? It’s alright to see Swift receive another win in this category, but it kind of gets old at this point, you know.
