Alt-Pop artist Presley Regier has dropped two new singles, including the new song “Questions” and the longtime unreleased soundcloud demo track, “Nightly.”
Regier, the semi-underground producer turned pop act, who gained popularity opening for popstar Tate McRae on her Think Later World Tour has been teasing these songs for months.
After his songs “They Know I’m Bored” and “Have Your Way” achieved moderate success on TikTok, mixed with being the opening act on one of the biggest tours of the summer, he knew it was time to capitalize on the success, and start releasing songs for his currently unnamed second studio project.
Nightly, produced by Regier, and Jasper Harris, who has produced songs for artists such as Tate McRae, Jack Harlow, and Playboi Carti, has been a demo on Regier’s Soundcloud page for well over six months,
The vibey track explores the internal struggle of loneliness and the difficulty in finding lasting love, Regier feels emotionally tangled and unsatisfied, yet is briefly awakened by someone who makes them feel alive, even though they know the relationship is temporary. They crave the connection, longing for “one more night,” while acknowledging that it won’t last.
Meanwhile, “Questions”, also produced by Regier and Harris, is a bit more mellow than “Nightly” and is a brand-new track that was teased on Regier’s social media. When asked about the song on his Instagram, Regier said that it was his favorite song he’s ever written.
The track expresses fear of inadequacy and the anxiety of losing a partner, even though the relationship hasn’t fully developed. Regier feels vulnerable, questioning his worth and fearing his partner may find someone better. There’s also a sense of confusion and pain over the unclear reasons for emotional distance in the relationship.
He has an extended play and now has four singles on an album under his belt. The main question I have for Regier is, “What’s next?” Opening for Tate McRae has given him major momentum, with him building his performance ability, building a solid brand for himself with branded shirts that say “Presley Regier is in [insert city he is in],” and doing two sold-out solo shows in New York and Los Angeles. Regier should be ready to drop his album by the end of the year.
I think Regier has so much potential to be a main pop guy. I feel like his music has such a silky and unique sound that’s missing in the current pop industry, and as an independent artist, has made such a name for himself already. We should all keep a keen eye on the 22- year-old artist. He already has the Tate McRae stamp of approval, so why shouldn’t we trust her judgment?
