A Glassboro resident was found dead at 10 p.m. on Nov. 3 from gunshot wounds.
The deceased was discovered by the train tracks between Glassboro High School and Bowe Elementary School. He had been shot in the head and the torso, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.
The shooting victim was identified as 27-year old Oscar Guerrier of Glassboro.
The death has been ruled a homicide after the discovery of the remains between Bowe Boulevard and Ruth Mancuso Lane.
The prosecutor’s office is working in coordination with the Glassboro Police Department as the active investigation continues.
The information regarding the case was released in a press release on the Glassboro Police Department’s Facebook page.
“The investigation into this incident is ongoing and no details will be released at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation. There is no active threat to the community. Any questions can be directed to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office as they are the lead agency for this incident,” read the Facebook post.
Further details are being withheld from the public at this time, as officials do not want the integrity of the investigation compromised.
Thomas Gilbert is the Chief of Detectives and Chief of Staff in the prosecutor’s office.
“Beyond what’s in the press release, that’s pretty much what’s going to be out there right now. Because as we’re actively working on the case, we don’t normally like piecemeal information out about the case, because they’re always evolving. So we did get that information out there. We don’t believe there’s an ongoing risk to the community in the area where this happened, which was important for us to share with everybody. But beyond that, we’re not going to be in the position right now if we’re releasing a lot of you know additional details, because, again, we’re actively working the investigation into what happened,” said Gilbert.
