The Borough of Glassboro Council met for its first regular meeting of the month on Tuesday, April 8, at the Glassboro Municipal Building.
The meeting began with a presentation for the retirement of Police K-9 Gunner, who was the first labrador retriever in the agency’s K-9 unit. K-9 Gunner was acquired from the Atlantic County John Sonny Burke K-9 Academy.
K-9 Gunner and Ptl. Ron Marchese, Gunner’s handler, who will also be retiring next month, was given a plaque tribute from the Borough of Glassboro as a token of their appreciation for their dedication and hard work over the years. Each council member made sure to recognize the duo in their separate reports as well.
The recently retired Corporal Kenneth Kuzniaz was also in attendance for the council meeting, where he was recognized for his 20 years serving the borough.
“One of the things we started doing when I became mayor was recognizing those who’ve served Glassboro for 20 years, both full-time or part-time. Corporal Kuzniaz has met that requirement,” said John E. Wallace III, the mayor of Glassboro.
The meeting then proceeded to authorize the following resolutions: the issuance and sale of up to $19,429,000 of general obligation, professional services on Martin Luther King Drive in Glassboro done by Robert M. Sapio Real Estate Appraisal & Consulting, the purchase of dog park equipment in the amount of $63,002, and several guarantees and fees for the Chick-Fil-A that’ll be coming soon to the town.
In regards to other usual meeting subjects, there was no new or unfinished business, nor was there anything new with Communications, Committee Reports, or the Engineer’s Report.
The next Glassboro council meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 22.
