Rowan men’s outdoor track and field team secured its tenth-straight New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) title on May 3 and 4 in Ewing, NJ.
The Profs tallied 313 points over the weekend to claim their 23rd title in program history, with host The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) placing second with 228 points.
Head coach Dustin Dimit was extremely pleased with how the team has progressed throughout the season.
“We’re really proud of all the guys,” said Dimit. “They’ve bought in from day one and it’s sometimes hard in those early season meets. When it’s cold and we’re going out there, it’s just as much of a workout as is a race and they’ve persevered through that.”
The highlights of the historic weekend for the Profs was junior Jason Agyemang first-place performance in the 110-meter hurdles (13.74) and in the 400 meter hurdles (52.69).
The 4×100 relay consisting of fifth-year Shamar Love, senior Robert McKinney, juniors Masai Byrd and Evan Corcoran set a meet record (40.88), resulting in a first place finish.
The Profs will be back in action on May 12 at the Widener Last Chance Meet with hopes of qualifying for the Division III Championships that begin on May 22. Dimit stated that he is confident in his team with nationals coming up.
“We think people are gonna continue to drop time and prepare well for nationals,” said Dimit. “The guys that are going there and hopefully get a couple more qualifiers there.”
