If you showed up on Sunday at Rowan to watch a competitive baseball game, you did not enjoy more than four innings of game one in the Profs double header against St. Lawrence. They won game one 13-0 and game two 15-6.
Rowan’s baseball team arrived on Sunday on a three game win streak to start off the season.
This was the first time that the Saints of St. Lawrence had ever matched up with the Brown and Gold and it was apparent from the fifth inning on that there was a talent disparity between the two clubs.
The first game started off with four scoreless innings but once the Profs got started, they did not stop until they had won both games comfortably.
It was a well-rounded performance from Rowan, many players contributed in both wins.
“I think we perform the same way every day, no matter who we are playing. We had a good week of practice and the guys were excited to finally get outside and start playing,” said Head Coach Kenneth M. Dickson. “We basically have a daily routine of things we do throughout the week, but I think our guys did a great job in their preparation in order to perform that well this week.”
Senior second baseman Alex Kokos went 4-8 on the day with 5 RBIs.
Looking forward to the rest of the season, Kokos has high hopes.
“I think we can accomplish a lot. I think we all have each other’s back, that’s what makes a good team great,” Kokos said.
The 5-0 Profs will look to keep the momentum going in their next game against Concordia at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational on March 12.
