Rowan Men’s Swimming went to Lancaster, PA the weekend before Thanksgiving and participated in the Franklin and Marshall Invitational, placing third out of the eight teams that were in attendance.
Jack Watson, Michael Fracchiolla, and Tobias Cahnbley, the newly named New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Swimmer of the Week, all ended the meet with three event victories each under their belt, scoring about 288 collaborative points for the team with those nine event wins.
“We did great,” said head coach Brad Bowser. “I think overall, we were close to all season-best times from some freshmen, some best times from some upper-classmen. I think overall we did what we were supposed to do.”
Bowser saw this meet as preparation for the end of the season since this invitational, wasn’t just one team against another, but included eight or more teams, which is good practice for the NJAC Championships that are coming up later in the season.
“If I had 10 things that I wanted to accomplish… we accomplished all of them,” Bowser said.
Being the head coach is a learning experience; knowing where you went wrong and making sure that you don’t make the same mistake twice. Regarding Bowser, he felt as though if he put the swimmers in different events, then the Profs would have finished in first place out of the eight teams.
Going forward, Bowser seems to have found the three guys that he can rely on when the time comes. Whether it’s getting them to the NCAA Division III Championships, getting individually stronger so they can break some more school records, or even simply getting the Profs to the conference championships, Bowser heavily believes in Watson, Fracchiolla, and Cahnbley.
This meet doesn’t get noticed in the win or loss column for any of the teams that participated, so Rowan’s record still stands at 1-2. The Profs’ next matchup is on Friday, Dec. 8 against Montclair State and Ramapo in a tri-meet that will be taking place at Montclair State.
