The NFC East kicked things off early with a primetime Thursday night game, as the Dallas Cowboys faced off against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.
Giants rookie receiver Malik Nabers continues to shine for the now 1-3 team. Nabers saw a team-high 15 targets and was able to turn the workload into 12 receptions for 115 yards.
However, Nabers’ effort wasn’t enough to hold off the Cowboys, who improved their record to 2-2. CeeDee Lamb led the team with seven receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown.
Moving on, the Philidelphia Eagles struggled greatly against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The Eagles fell to third in the division after losing 33-16, moving their record to 2-2. The offense struggled early, missing key players such as AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, and Lane Johnson. The team had a total of zero yards gained in the first quarter. The Eagles defense was lackluster at best; however, the special teams sent a spark with Isaiah Rodgers blocking an extra point, which was returned by Kelle Ringo for two points.
The Washington Commanders had the 4:05 slot on Sunday afternoon. The Commanders blew by the now 1-3 Cardinals with a final score of 42-14. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels continues to show his potential as the Commanders sit atop the NFC East at 3-1.
Outlook: The conference is looking good for the Commanders. With the head coach and quarterback issues deteriorating the Eagles, the Giants’ lack of talent, and inconsistency from the Cowboys, the Commanders have been able to secure the top spot in the NFC East through Week 4 of the NFL season.
The Commanders look to take advantage of their matchup against the 1-3 Cleveland Browns next week. The Eagles take a rest for Week Five as they are on bye, while the Giants take on the 3-1 Seahawks. And finally, the Cowboys look to defeat the 3-1 Pittsburgh Steelers.
