Over the past couple of weeks, there have been so many major upsets in women’s college basketball, and the games have been epic, to say the least. Just last week, No. 1 ranked Notre Dame fell to N.C. State, marking just one of the many major upsets that the sport has seen this year.
Since that game, Notre Dame has also lost to No. 24 ranked Florida State, which was another upset. As a result, Notre Dame’s ranking has gone from No. 1 to No. 3, a major drop right before the start of the playoffs.
Due to the immense amount of talent in this year’s bracket, including Paige Bueckers, Juju Watkins, Hannah Hidalgo, Olivia Miles, Hailey Van Lith, Georgia Amoore, Kiki Rice, and many more, there will be plenty of nail-biters and upsets this year. All this talent makes it hard to predict a winner as well.
With March Madness, there are teams that you think can win the tournament, but any team can change that at any moment. That’s the beauty of March. There are at least 10 different teams that can win the tournament this year as a result too. Some of those teams include UConn, Notre Dame, Texas, UCLA, South Carolina, USC, TCU, and Duke, along with some others. With that being said, some teams to keep an eye on for potential upsets are Kentucky, Maryland, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, and Louisville.
It is amazing to see that more and more people are watching women’s basketball, and the numbers continue to rise because of how talented women’s basketball is becoming and that more and more people are watching.
Every game that I’ve seen so far has come down to the wire and featured the stars trading buckets, going back and forth. This is peak basketball and must-see TV. If the regular season was this chaotic, I can’t imagine what the playoffs and March Madness will look like because of the stars and competitiveness in the league this year, which is why plenty of teams will be on upset alert this March.
