Meet the Staff

Editor-in-Chief, Kyle Sullender:

I am a senior journalism major. Though I am one of the least fun people you’ll happen to meet at a party, my interests, and remedial journalism skills, have landed me a pretty sweet gig as the Editor-in-Chief of The Whit. I enjoy arguing about things you couldn’t care less about, and winning said arguments by pointing minor semantic mistakes.

Managing Editor, Justin Fata:

I am a senior advertising major with a minor in marketing. My strong work ethic and my dedication to The Whit has now given me the opportunity to become the Managing Editor. This will be my third year at The Whit and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for us.

News Editor, Justin Decker:

I am a junior journalism major with a communication studies minor. If you have free moment I’d like to explain how the field of Journalism isn’t in as bad of a state as everyone thinks it is. I spend a majority of my time goofing around outdoors, taking hikes and walking on my slack line. My three great loves are reading, writing and rock climbing. When I’m not occupied doing any of those things you can probably find me speeding around campus on my bike. It’s good for cardio.

Arts and Entertainment Editor, Dylan Maslowski:

I am a junior journalism major and the Whit’s Arts & Entertainment Editor for the 2016-2017 school year. Some of my many interests include “Game of Thrones,” “The Walking Dead,” “Doctor Who” and nearly everything in between. In my spare time I’m also a musician, playing both guitar and bass in my own band.

Features Editor, Taylor Henry:

I am a junior writing arts major and minoring in audio recording. I received my associate of arts in communication from Atlantic Cape Community College and transferred to Rowan in 2016. At Atlantic Cape, I was editor of the student newspaper, The Atlantic Cape Review, which won 13 awards in the NJ Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest, including general excellence for the editorial staff. I am also involved with Rowan Radio.

Sports Editor, Joe Cicchino:

I am a senior journalism major with a concentration in broadcast. Last year, I covered multiple sports beats. Prior to attending Rowan, I was a D3 soccer bench warmer at Immaculata University. I don’t want to work, but I bang on the drums all day in my band, Final Warning.

Photo Editor, Cole

I am a junior economics major with a passion for photography, music, and the arts. When I first came to Rowan my freshman year I was on the hockey team. I worked at Disney through the Disney College Program in Spring of 2015 and loved every second of it. In my free time I am a professional flowboarder.

Photo Editor, Amanda Palma:

I am a sophomore public relations major and minoring in journalism. I enjoy taking photos in my free time, and I am looking forward to being the Photo Editor for The Whit this upcoming year. I also appreciate the little things in life, going to the beach, and the color purple.

Head Copy Editor, Ashleigh Albert:

I am a sophomore journalism major with a minor in french. I hope to synthesize these two loves and one day become an investigative journalist working in either Europe or Africa. Ultimately, joining The Whit has been an eye-opening experience, who knew the oxford comma was truly that irrelevant? When not writing, you can find me hanging out with my squad or claiming that my quirks are only because, “It’s a Pennsylvania thing!” because really, New Jersey is super different from home.

Copy Editor, Vince DeBlasio

I am a senior journalism major. Some other things about me: I like Philadelphia sports teams. I play bass in a punk-rock band. I also make a good tomato sauce.

Copy Editor, Ellie Leick

I am a sophomore writing arts major. I am super excited to be a part of The Whit team this year! When not bothering my roommates while they’re trying to do homework (which is a hobby of mine), I can usually be found watching videos on YouTube or sleeping.

Copy Editor, Matt Rappa

I am a senior journalism major, looking to pursue a Masters in Public Relations degree here at Rowan. In my free time I enjoy watching and writing about Philadelphia sports, particularly the Phillies. I have been a member of The Whit since the fall of 2015.
