UFC 306 at Sphere in Las Vegas was historic and a massive success, and now the league will shift its focus to the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah for UFC 307: Pereira vs. Rountree Jr.
The card will feature 12 fights, including two undisputed world title fights and a pivotal No. 1 contender bout.
In the main event of the evening, the UFC light heavyweight championship is on the line as one of the most lethal strikers in history, Alex “Poatan” Pereira (11-2), will defend his title against surging top-ten finisher, Khalil Rountree Jr. (14-5).
Pereira will be making his third defense of his light heavyweight throne in 2024. He defeated former champions Jiří Procházka and Jamahal “Sweet Dreams” Hill in his last fights in 2024. Pereira’s activity as champion has been insane.
As for his opponent, Rountree Jr. will look to shock the MMA world with a victory on Saturday. Rountree has ten wins by knockout and has produced seven first-round finishes. If he is going to be victorious this Saturday, he will need to fight smart against Pereira.
In the co-main event of the evening, the UFC women’s bantamweight title is up for grabs as the current champion, Raquel “Rocky” Pennington (16-9) will defend against former champion Julianna “The Venezuelan Vixen” Peña (12-5).
Pennington will be making her first defense of her bantamweight title since winning by unanimous decision back in January at UFC 297 in Toronto against Mayra Bueno Silva. She is also bringing a six-fight winning streak into this contest with Peña, who is looking to become a two-time UFC women’s bantamweight champion.
She took the title from former champion and the greatest women’s fighter of all time, Amanda “The Lioness” Nunes at UFC 269 by submission. However, she would then go on to lose in a rematch with Nunes at UFC 277 by unanimous decision. This is going to be interesting to see how Peña looks after her two-year hiatus.
Another fight to look out for is the second fight on the main card between Ketlen “Fenomeno” Vieira (14-3) and Kayla Harrison (17-1). The reason this is highlighted is because whoever wins this fight will face the winner of the co-main event.
Vieira, who is the No. 2 ranked fighter in the women’s bantamweight division, holds two wins by knockout and four wins by submission, producing three first-round finishes. Harrison, who has won two Olympic gold medals in judo, is primed to show the world that she deserves the next shot at the title. In her UFC debut at UFC 300, Harrison defeated former UFC bantamweight champion, Holly “The Preachers Daughter” Holm by submission. Harrison is being dubbed as the next UFC women’s bantamweight champion, and with a victory on Saturday, she can achieve that goal.
If you are a combat fan or a sports fan in general, UFC 307 is the event for you.
