Rowan’s College of Performing Arts will host a virtual concert featuring “Hamilton” star, Grammy winner and Tony nominee Phillipa Soo, on Friday, April 16 at 8 p.m.
The concert is a part of the Marie Rader Presenting Series: events that bring exceptional artists to campus, enriching the university and the Southern New Jersey region through expanded performing arts programming, specifically in the music, dance and theater aspects. This concert will be recorded live and exclusively for Rowan University attendees on the stage of New York’s Theater District. Tickets are on sale now for students, staff, alumni and general admission. For an additional fee, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session via Zoom with Soo following the performance.
Students with a valid Rowan email address should RSVP on ProfLink to receive a free student ticket. The virtual concert tickets are $40 for the public and $30 for Rowan employees and alumni. The Q&A is $60 for the public and $25 for Rowan affiliates. Those who are interested in attending have until 6 p.m. on Friday to claim their tickets. Space is limited so it is encouraged to obtain tickets as soon as possible.
Eighty percent of the proceeds from every ticket sold will go to the New Jersey Arts and Culture Recovery Fund (NJACRF), a charitable organization advocating for artists within the state who were hit the hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic. The NJACRF has a specific focus on prioritizing the voices of BIPOC.
Soo is widely known for her role of Eliza Schulyer, Alexander Hamilton’s wife, in the critically acclaimed Broadway musical “Hamilton,” where she received numerous accolades including and a Tony nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Musical. She also received a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album. Soo is featured in a plethora of other productions and smaller screen appearances as well, including Netflix’s animated film “Over the Moon” and Disney+’s “The One and Only Ivan.”
