Several weeks ago, Rowan senior MacKenzie Garrett discovered a vandalized car on the second floor of the Rowan Boulevard parking garage. The white Volkswagen had a smashed-in windshield and showed clear footprint markings on the hood.
The state of the car suggests an individual jumping on the car itself and attacking the windshield with some sort of blunt object. Details are limited at this time, and the case was swiftly reported to campus authorities.
The incident appeared to be isolated and somewhat resolved, until Nov. 11, at 5:51 a.m., when recent graduate Zack Ciullo discovered his vehicle in the exact same state.
Parked on the corner of High Street and Mick Drive, the vehicle showed almost identical windshield damage and similar footprints that were much less visible.
“My reaction was kind of like, ‘Well, I guess I’m not going to work today,’” said Ciullo, when elaborating on the impact the discovery had on him. “It could have been worse, there could have been no car there at all. I remember being more annoyed than anything, as this was just another thing I would have to deal with that week.”
These instances of vandalism happened in quick succession and in close proximity to each other, causing natural speculation. Namely, on their potential connection, either in motive, method, or perpetrator.
Investigations are ongoing, and information regarding the incidents will undoubtedly be revealed in the future, upon discovery.
