Rowan women’s soccer defeated the William Paterson Pioneers Saturday afternoon, 3-0, at the Rowan Soccer and Lacrosse Complex. No. 17th-ranked Rowan remained undefeated in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play, improving to a 10-1 record and expanding their winning streak to six games.
“We had a ton of shots in the first half, if we score a couple of them, the game’s probably over at that point,” head coach Scott Leacott said. “There’s always going to be a little let down after an emotional game … but I thought we did what we needed to do, and that’s win the game.”
The Profs played aggressive by taking a season-high 31 shots, controlling possession, and applying heavy pressure on the Pioneers’ back four.
In the 33rd minute, senior Lianna SanFelice made a pass up the middle to junior transfer Bella Moore. William Paterson’s keeper charged toward the ball, but Moore won the race, poking it into the bottom right corner to give Rowan a, 1-0, advantage entering the half.
The scoring spree continued for Moore in the second half. She crushed a shot into the left corner of the netting thanks to a low cross from junior Sara Wiedeman in the 55th minute of the match. Moore scored her fifth and sixth goals on the season, while also reaching the net twice in a game for the second time this year.
“I felt like I was in the right place at the right time,” Moore said. “It gave the energy that we all needed.”
The Profs fought through the rain and tacked on their third goal in the 62nd minute. Senior Julianna Giordano switched fields and found defender Cali Sloan, who sent a shot from a few yards outside the box. Sloan not only scored her first Rowan goal, she did it in style, hitting top bins.
“She doesn’t get forward a whole lot, so we were extremely excited for her,” Leacott said.
The brown and gold earned their eighth clean sheet of the season, never letting any shots come their direction for the second time this fall.
“Our defense is awesome,” Moore said. “They talk really well and they move up the field. It gives us a lot of opportunities, especially from the outside.”
Rowan’s defense has been a brick wall throughout the entire 2025 campaign, allowing just three goals, the least among NJAC participants.
“We play defense from forwards all the way down to our goalkeepers,” Leacott said. “We make teams earn it.”
Finishing a perfect three game homestand, the Profs will be back on the road next week to take on a 6-3-5 Stockton squad in Galloway, N.J. With Rowan still atop the NJAC table, the Profs will look to keep their hot streak alive within conference, especially with the team out-scoring opponents 22-1 in their last six games combined.
“We do really well when we work really hard and we pass and move,” Moore said. “That’s the way we’re going to beat Stockton, if we play how we normally play.”
