With Week 12 coming to a close, “Shop or Drop” is back, giving you expert advice on who to pick up and drop every week in your fantasy football league.
Waiver Wire additions
Zack Moss – RB – Indianapolis Colts – 52% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
Zack Moss once led the NFL in rushing yards, back when Jonathan Taylor started the season on injured reserve. With Taylor dominating in his return, Moss’ role has seemingly diminished, but now with Taylor expected to be sidelined for 2-3 weeks with a thumb injury, expect Moss to reestablish himself as the lead back in Indianapolis.
Pat Freiermuth – TE – Pittsburgh Steelers – 50% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
Pat Freiermuth went absolutely nuclear in what was the best offensive showing from the Steelers in a while, with nine receptions for 120 yards. With a new offensive scheme in place, Freiermuth looks to continue this impressive production moving forward.
Josh Downs – WR – Indianapolis Colts – 58% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
Josh Downs’ stat line does not blow anyone out of the water, as he caught five passes for 43 yards in the win against Tampa Bay this past Sunday. What does catch my eye is that he was targeted a whopping 13 times. If Gardner Minshew is looking Downs’ way 13 times a game, he is bound to start scoring touchdowns.
Curtis Samuel – WR – Washington Commanders – 29% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
Curtis Samuel started off the season hot, but soon slowed down due to injury. In a game against the Cowboys where he appeared healthy, the veteran receiver caught nine of 12 targets for 100 yards. Although Terry McLaurin is considered the WR1 in Washington, there have been a handful of games this season where Samuel seems to be Howell’s favorite target.
Christian Watson – WR – Green Bay Packers – 62% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
Christian Watson has had a very disappointing sophomore season thus far. Even though this may be the case, it looks as if he is about to change the narrative, as he just had his best game of the year, catching five of seven targets for 94 yards while finding the end zone. If Jordan Love continues his impressive play, Watson can be considered a viable option in your fantasy lineup.
Jayden Reed – WR – Green Bay Packers – 48% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
If Christian Watson is scooped up in your league, go out and grab Jayden Reed. Watson may be the more recognizable name, but Reed has been the true WR1 in Green Bay. In his last three games, the rookie receiver has put up at least 15 fantasy points while scoring a touchdown in each. Additionally, Reed is averaging over five targets per game, meaning the opportunities are there for the taking.
Players to Drop
Jerry Jeudy – WR – Denver Broncos
Even with the Broncos’ late success, Jerry Jeudy cannot seem to get anything going. In a game where Denver put up 29 points against a tough Cleveland defense, Jeudy only caught two passes for 11 yards.
Geno Smith – QB – Seattle Seahawks
Geno Smith has not been able to recapture the success of last year’s Seattle team. With his health in question and a tough schedule ahead, Smith should not be starting for anyone’s fantasy team until he proves otherwise.
Dameon Pierce – RB – Houston Texans
In what was thought to be a highly anticipated year, Pierce has fallen short of expectations. While Pierce was sidelined due to injury, Devin Singletary provided the Texans running game with a great spark. It looks as if Singletary may take over the backfield, even with Pierce now healthy.
If you see some of these guys on your waiver wire, try and scoop them up. Although some players may not have a spot on your starting roster at the moment, injuries are bound to happen. When everyone else in your league is scrambling around looking for replacements, you will remember that you read “Shop and Drop,” and reinforcements are already sitting on your bench.
