The Edelman Fossil Park & Museum (EFM) will officially open on March 29. Tickets are now on sale, starting at $29 for adults, $24 for children 3-12, and children under the age of two get free admission, according to the EFM.
“Our goal with the museum is to bring back that childlike sense of wonder and help people feel a deeper connection to the incredible history of our planet,” said Kenneth Lacovara, Ph.D, founding executive director of the Edelman Fossil Park & Museum in a press statement announcing the opening date. “Right here in South Jersey, we’ve preserved millions of years of history in stunning detail, with each fossil telling its own unique story. We want visitors to feel like they’re stepping into the world of dinosaurs and walk away feeling inspired, empowered, and ready to make a difference for the future.”
The museum will have multiple different exhibits, including a Dinosaur Coast Gallery, Monstrous Seas Gallery, Hall of Extinction & Hope, Discovery Forest, and Critter Cove.
There will also be a Premium Experience Virtual Reality module that, according to the statement, is a “free-roam VR journey that follows an Expedition Voyager mission to collect scientific samples and come face-to-face with dinosaurs and Cretaceous creatures.”
The EFM will also have various amenities, including the Quarry Grounds Cafe, Darwin & Co. retail store, outdoor nature trails, Cretaceous Gardens, and a dinosaur-themed playground, amongst other things.
Visitors will also be able to partake in the EFM’s quarry dig experience on a seasonal basis.
According to the EFM, the quarry will be open from May to October, and starting May 1, guests will begin digging for real fossils and begin “unearthing clues to the ancient past and feeling the thrill of discovery.”
