Launched in 2022, Rowan University welcomes the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, located within the Rohrer College of Business.
Approved in December 2021, the new school is the first of its kind in New Jersey, alongside being one of the few university-based schools of innovation and entrepreneurship in the United States, according to an announcement made by Rowan University.
The school has been a work in progress. By expanding from a small program into an entire school, students will have a wide range of opportunities and partnerships.
Dr. Eric Liguori is the executive director of the Rowan Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (RCIE), long-time professor and co-author of four books and 50 peer-reviewed, scholarly journal articles. Dr. Liguori will lead the university’s new school.
“I’m excited. Our core entrepreneurship team has accomplished so much over the past five years, and we’re very ready to take on the challenge of scaling our courses, degrees, and programs to a wider audience,” Dr. Liguori said. “I’m also thankful for the opportunity to serve such an inspiring and dynamic population of students.”
All students interested in the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship are encouraged to apply to the school. “The Princeton Review” has recognized the school as among the top 50 in the country. Just two Garden State schools made the cut, Rowan University and the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
The new school will have a formal curriculum as professors teach students acquired skills they will need in order to be successful. The foundation of the school rests on top of the idea that its students have the ideas to build their future. By offering students undergraduate programs and a variety of certificates, students will learn to create with the resources offered and learn to go beyond those same resources.
“Rowan has 15 years of entrepreneurship-education success that we look to continue to build upon. Rowan graduates are innovators, intrapreneurs and entrepreneurs, operating in a diverse array of industries, spanning the globe,” Dr. Liquori said. “Each day, our alumni are creating jobs, stimulating our economy and working to address some of the world’s biggest challenges. The School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship aims to scale this kind of impact.”
