With a wild Week 4 coming to a close, “Shop or Drop” is back, giving you expert advice on who to pick up and drop every week in your fantasy football league.
Waiver Wire additions
Romeo Doubs – WR – Green Bay Packers – 54% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
Romeo Doubs has been Jordan Love’s favorite target through the first four weeks of NFL action. In the loss to the Detroit Lions this past Thursday, the second-year receiver caught nine of 13 targets for 95 yards. Even with Christian Watson returning from injury, Love still favored Doubs in the passing game. Watson, who will most likely get attention from the opposing team’s top corner, may even open up the field for Doubs moving forward.
Cole Kmet – TE – Chicago Bears – 53% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
With the Bears’ offense finally clicking, Cole Kmet broke out and had one of the best Sundays for a tight end this season. Kmet reeled in seven balls for 85 yards while finding the end zone twice. If Justin Fields is able to play the way he did this past weekend, Kmet should see similar production in the future.
C.J. Stroud – QB – Houston Texans – 47% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
Along with being the favorite for offensive rookie of the year, he is also in the conversation for top ten QBs. The Ohio State alum lit up the Steelers’ defense, throwing for 306 yards and two touchdowns, making it his third game in a row throwing for at least two touchdowns. Stroud is statistically the tenth best fantasy quarterback this season, meaning he should be rostered in all leagues.
Tyler Boyd – WR – Cincinnati Bengals – 37% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
Tyler Boyd started the season off slower than usual, but this is hopefully about to change. With star receiver Tee Higgins sidelined for a few weeks with a rib fracture, Boyd is bound to get involved. We saw a glimpse of this on Sunday, as he was targeted seven times with Higgins leaving the game early.
Jaleel McLaughlin – RB – Denver Broncos – 3% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
On only seven attempts, Jaleel McLaughlin rushed for 72 yards. The undrafted free agent also hauled in three passes, one of those being a touchdown. Starting halfback Javonte Williams has been dealing with injuries this entire year and although he is not expected to miss too much time, McLaughlin would be a nice handcuff to Williams if he does go down again this season.
Jameson Williams – WR – Detroit Lions – 32% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
With the Lions’ offense roaring early on, many fans forgot all about stud receiver Jameson Williams due to his suspension. And now that the NFL changed their gambling policy, the second-year man out of Alabama is eligible to play as early as Week 5. If Goff continues to play at a high level, Williams is certain to have a nice role in this explosive passing game.
Players to Drop
Antonio Gibson – RB – Washington Commanders
Unfortunately for Antonio Gibson, this is Brian Robinson’s backfield. In their game Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, Robinson had 14 rushing attempts compared to Gibson’s six. With Robinson having a credible year thus far, do not expect any change.
Kenneth Gainwell – RB – Philadelphia Eagles
D’Andre Swift has broken out early for the Eagles running game, which has put a damper into Gainwell’s usage. On Sunday, Gainwell only rushed for 14 yards on four attempts, while Swift carried the ball 14 times and got a bulk of the reps.
Gus Edwards – RB – Baltimore Ravens
The running back situation in Baltimore seems like it changes every other week. The fact of the matter is that Lamar Jackson will always be the RB1 in this offense. With Gus Edwards sharing time with Justice Hill, there is no point in rostering this Ravens running back.
If you see some of these guys on your waiver wire, try and scoop them up. Although some players may not have a spot on your starting roster at the moment, injuries are bound to happen. When everyone else in your league is scrambling around looking for replacements, you will remember that you read “Shop and Drop”, and reinforcements are already sitting on your bench.
