With an exciting slate of games in Week 9 coming to a close, “Shop or Drop” is back, giving you expert advice on who to pick up and drop every week in your fantasy football league.
Waiver Wire additions
Joshua Dobbs – QB – Minnesota Vikings – 17% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
Surreal. That is the word that comes to mind when thinking about what Joshua Dobbs was able to do this past Sunday. When thrown into the fire, Dobbs threw for two touchdowns, rushed for another, and added 66 yards on the ground. The rocket scientist turned pro quarterback was able to put up 27 fantasy points without even knowing the names of the linemen in front of him. The Vikings still look as if they are all in this season and with Justin Jefferson returning any week now, the sky is the limit for Dobbs.
Tank Dell – WR – Houston Texans – 48% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
Tank Dell went nuclear this past Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The third round draft pick out of Houston found the end zone twice while catching six passes for 114 yards. Dell was targeted a whopping 11 times as well. With C.J. Stroud playing at an MVP level, Dell is primed to produce moving forward.
Cade Otton – TE – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 6% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
Cade Otton just put up a sensational stat line for a tight end. On nine targets, the sophomore reeled in six balls for 70 yards while scoring twice. The Buccaneers love to utilize him, as Otton has played over 90% of the snaps in every game this season. With tight ends being hard to come by, and Tampa’s offense coming alive against Atlanta, Otton may be a nice stash on your roster.
Quentin Johnston – WR – Los Angeles Chargers – 35% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
Although Quentin Johnson did not have a spectacular game against the Jets, I will give him the benefit of the doubt since he was against an astute New York secondary. Additionally, Justin Herbert only threw for 136 yards and zero touchdowns. With Mike Williams out for the year, and Joshua Palmer on the IR, the rookie out of TCU will look to make his mark in this talented Chargers offense.
Keaton Mitchell – RB – Baltimore Ravens – 5% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
I tend to stay away from the Ravens backfield, as there are too many mouths to feed, but Keaton Mitchell had too good of a day to not be on this list. On only ten touches, the undrafted rookie was able to tally up 134 total yards and a touchdown. When asked about Mitchell’s usage moving forward, HC John Harbaugh stated that there will most likely be a rotation. Mitchell is an interesting player to keep an eye on in Baltimore’s run-heavy offense.
Luke Musgrave – TE – Green Bay Packers – 22% rostered via Yahoo! Sports
Luke Musgrave had himself a respectable outing in the win against the Rams. The rookie tight end caught three passes for 51 yards with a score. Wideout Christian Watson has been dealing with injuries all year, and he once again got banged up this past Sunday. If Watson is a no-go next week, watch for Jordan Love to look Musgrave’s way more often.
Players to Drop
Christian Watson – WR – Green Bay Packers
In what was anticipated to be an exciting 2nd year for Christian Watson, injuries have held him back. After missing the first three weeks of the season, Watson has scored over 11 points just once in his first five games of action. His single touchdown on the year is not good enough for a spot on your roster.
Jeff Wilson Jr. – RB – Miami Dolphins
Jeff Wilson Jr. has made no impact since returning to the starting lineup after spending the first six weeks on the IR. Raheem Mostert is the clear RB1 at the moment. Additionally, once De’Von Achane is healthy, Wilson Jr. will slide into a third-string role.
Justice Hill – RB – Baltimore Ravens
I feel as if every week, the Ravens are filtering in a new running back. This week, Keaton Mitchell is in, while Justice Hill is out. Hill also needs to compete with Gus Edwards, who has been on a touchdown rampage as of late. Lamar Jackson, Gus Edwards, and Keaton Mitchell are much more utilized in this Baltimore offense.
If you see some of these guys on your waiver wire, try and scoop them up. Although some players may not have a spot on your starting roster at the moment, injuries are bound to happen. When everyone else in your league is scrambling around looking for replacements, you will remember that you read “Shop and Drop”, and reinforcements are already sitting on your bench.
