Evergreen and Mullica have reopened to host the influx of the freshman class and new renovations have been made to the building, with new minifridges and microwaves given to each room.
Evergreen and Mullica are unique compared to other freshman halls, as they are suite-style with a shared bathroom.
For Lucas Wittenburg, the biggest challenge was the uncomfortably high temperature inside his room.
“The biggest challenge is the heat. I am on the third floor, which gets the hottest. The fans only help so much, we have to walk to a parking lot to throw our trash, it is kind of annoying,” Wittenburg said.
The real upside for him is getting to have his own bathroom unlike other students who live in the other dorms on campus
“I feel close to the CA and like having the personal shower and bathroom because of the privacy,” Wittenburg said.
Marshall Molina likes how close the dorm is to everything.
“The proximity of the building makes it so my classes are no longer than a 10-minute walk. It is quiet enough too,” Molina said.
Despite Evergreen’s positives, some things are causing problems for students including George Garcia.
“Late at night when you try to get back to the dorm, the sprinkles are turned on and you have to maneuver your way around them,” Garcia said. “Due to Evergreen being recently opened, there are lots of maintenance problems.”
With the new school year underway, Evergreen and Mullica have garnered mixed reviews amongst its student residents.
