Demolition on High Street is underway in preparation for the construction of a new RLS Logistics headquarters.
RLS Logistics, a cold chain solutions company, announced its move to Glassboro back in January 2023 after being headquartered in Newfield, New Jersey, since 1968. The move will combine the company’s offices in both Newfield and Mount Laurel, New Jersey.
According to RLS Logistics CEO Russell Leo, the construction will take approximately 12 to 18 months and will look to be completed by early to mid 2026. The company also purchased two additional lots to build up to 60 parking spaces for the office.
Leo says moving his business after 56 years will benefit not only his employees but the quality of their customer service.
“We think that is very important not only from a cultural standpoint, but it also helps us to do the very best job for our customers,” Leo said. “With that said, if you are going to require people to come into the office you have to give them a great work environment, both in the office itself and with restaurants and retail shops nearby. Those being in walking distance is a huge perk for them, and also being so close to the main campus will give us great exposure to the students as we look to grow for years to come.”
The decision to select Glassboro as the location for their new headquarters, Leo says, was prompted by seeing the growth of both the community and Rowan as an institution.
“To watch the growth of not only Rowan Boulevard but also the local community made it an easy decision for us,” Leo said.
Along with bringing their new headquarters close to campus, RLS Logistics will look to work with Rowan in the future, including attending university career fairs and increasing their internship opportunities which will be open to students.
RLS Logistics also recently donated $125,000 to the Rohrer College of Business (RCB) to help fund a new certificate of undergraduate study (CUGS) in professional sales.
“The certificate will be a differentiator for Rowan students competing for professional sales positions in today’s global economy. Local corporate partnerships are important to RCB and its students,” said RCB Dean Matthew Sarkees. “We are grateful to RLS Logistics for its support and look forward to working with management to grow the relationship.”
With construction not yet underway, Leo looks forward to getting ready to relocate RLS logistics to their new home in Glassboro and be a part of the growing campus community.
“Glassboro and Rowan University have a lot to offer,” Leo said. “The vision of Dr. [Ali] Houshmand and his team has really taken off and we [RLS Logistics] wanted to be a part of it.”
