The Profs took part in two events this past weekend, with the first one at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) for the Rick McCorkle Invitational in Ewing, New Jersey. Rowan also went to Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, for the Blue Jays Tune Up, where they placed 11th out of 13 teams.
Junior Ally Wernik moved up to the No. 8 spot in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) in the 800 meter and posted a time of 2:21.15.
“It has a lot to do with mindset. We’ve been having a lot of fun as a team, especially at these smaller meets,” said Wernik. “Just really working together to put each other up.”
Wernik believed that the race was a little weird for her because she ran a little slower than she wanted, but she was able to use it as energy.
“I was slower than I wanted, but I kinda just used that as energy to really push myself to the second half,” said Wernik.
In the 1500-meter, senior Gabriella Pagano ran a time of 4:42.22, and now has the fourth-best time in the NJAC in a seeded heat.
In the Blue Jays Tune Up, sophomore Katie Little competed in the hammer throw and placed fourth with a 42.93-meter attempt.
Rowan will participate in the NJAC Championships this upcoming weekend.
“Each person putting their best foot forward,” said head coach Shedrick Elliott III. “Just letting the chips fall, wherever they may be, if that’s a team title, great, if not, okay, we can still hold our heads high.”
