Rowan students and staff will gain a new place to park in Downtown Glassboro next Wednesday.
Located off Rowan Boulevard on Mick Drive, Nexus Properties will open the Mick Drive Parking Garage. According to the Nexus website, the eight-floor parking facility will provide 934 parking spaces for hourly, overnight and monthly parking to accommodate residents, visitors and students.
The 24-hour parking garage will offer free two-hour parking on the ground floor for retail customers. For long-term and overnight parking, visitors can use any of the upper levels for $7 or less.
“I think it’s a good thing,” said 18-year-old Robert Grochal, a freshman writing arts major from West Berlin, N.J.
While Grochal doesn’t have a car, he knows the struggles of parking on campus through his friends who commute. The additional parking “could be beneficial,” Grochal said.
“Any more parking we can get is a good thing. Rowan’s only going to get more students, and they’re going to need a place to park,” he added.
Rowan students and staff may purchase monthly and semester permits at a discounted price. Monthly passes guarantee a non-reserved parking slot for $100. Students and staff with valid Rowan identification can purchase the semester rate for $225. All rates are available for purchase on the Nexus Parking Systems website.
Motorcycle and bicycle parking will also be available.
