Tuesday afternoon rolls around and as usual, I forgot to eat before my classes. So here I am at 3:15 p.m. starving, thinking about how I haven’t eaten anything since that bowl of pasta last night.
In need of a quick fix and no time to cook, my only option, aside from the other options I’m getting tired of, is to check out Ricci’s Hoagies, the newest addition to the Glassboro dining experience.
So off we went, my two friends and I headed to Ricci’s Hoagies for what we hoped would be a great time. Unfortunately, not all the three of us can say great, not even good, things about our experience.
I decided to have a soppressata (spicy salami) with lettuce, onions, and mozzarella cheese on a roll. While the first few bites were delicious, I became turned off by my hoagie when I found a hair in it. So naturally, I didn’t eat the rest of it.
Luckily for my friends Amanda and Joe, they didn’t have the same issue I had. They both said great things about their subs, saying they tasted great and, as Amanda put it, the sandwich was messy which is her favorite type of sandwich. Amanda had honey turkey with banana peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions on a roll. Joe had a roasted pepper and eggplant hoagie with chips.
Joe commented on how the sandwich seemed fresh and how the sandwich was filled with a decent amount and wasn’t skimpy. But he did say that they seem a little expensive, and I agree with that, especially with being a sub shop in a college community.
While ordering our food, the worker in charge of making my sub seemed very irritated and disinterested in having to work, as did most of the employees. There were only two people out of the six or seven working who didn’t seem miserable to be there.
I was also a little saddened to see the store mostly deserted, but I guess that is to be expected on a rainy day. While we were dining, however, a girl who seemed to be a frequent visitor came in. Her familiar face was welcomed by warm hellos and greetings from the workers.
While I will probably not be returning there anytime soon, Joe Gramigna and Amanda Palma both said they would go back.
