On Friday, RAH hosted their annual Homecoming Harvest Festival at Hollybush Green, where students got an out of this world experience.

This year’s theme for homecoming was “Out of this World,” and RAH made sure students felt that with a Velcro wall inflatable house that defied gravity and alien balloon-making. Students could be seen walking around with their new alien friends.

Upon arrival, students receive 8 dollars worth of voucher tickets to use on food from the four food vendors at the festival. Students could pick between the Tacos al Carbon, Try Vegan, Baby Blue and Aunt Martha’s Famous Funnel Cakes.

“We try to mix up the vendors each year to try different options and if possible, have it go along with the theme of homecoming,” Lauren Kuski, assistant director of Rowan After Hours, said.  

Her team started planning this in June based off of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo landing.

Kuski said that every year, they see around 1,000 people attend, with a mix of students and alumni. The festival is yet another kick-off to homecoming to energize the students. 

They try to have five major events going on for students to enjoy. Besides the bounce house and balloon making, there was live music with a dance floor setting around the stage for those who wanted to dance. Lima Bean Riot was kicking it off with covers of popular songs like “We Will Rock You” by Queen.

In addition to the live music and dance floor, students could attend a petting zoo. The Happy Trail Ponies company had their animals available for students to pet and even hold. A donkey, sheep, goats, bunnies, chickens and ducks were making students’ days. Plenty of students could be seen carrying bunnies and taking pictures.

Students who worked for RAH were at every vendor and activity going on to help students with questions and provide information. Some could be seen in costume like Freddy Saab, a psychology major and student worker for RAH. He just recently started working for RAH and enjoys every minute of it. 

“If I wasn’t working for RAH, I would still be coming out to these events. It’s always a great time working or just attending,” Saab said. 

RAH has plenty of programs throughout the year and is always looking for new students to get involved and help out. They have their novelty nights, popular bingo nights and plenty of other events that give out free items to students. 

Justin Roldan, a senior, told me he loves going to RAH events with his friends and seeing what they have to offer.

“It’s my last year so I’m trying to go to every event possible and experience Rowan until I can’t anymore as a student,” he said.

So many students love attending the RAH’s events for the activities and experience. Whatever next year’s homecoming and the upcoming RAH nights may be, they’re sure to be a hit!
