Rowan’s men’s basketball team picked up a huge victory this Saturday against Montclair State University, winning by a score of 94-86.
Seniors Austin Kearney and Jerry Price combined for 44 points. Price played a total of 37 minutes, putting up 25 points and had four steals. Kearney had a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
“We needed this game,” Kearney said. “We lost so many close games this year so winning a game like that is big.”
The Profs now have a record of 11-11 (7-8 conference record) and need every win they can get to stay in playoff contention.
The Profs were down five at the half but came out firing to start the second. They went on a 10-2 run and gained momentum. They would sustain a six-point lead with 10 minutes to go in the game and they never looked back.
“It was a good environment today,” Head Coach Joe Crispin said. “Our kids owned it out there. We weren’t where we wanted to be in the first half but we kept attacking.”
Price took his performance to another level today knowing his team needed a win here late in the season.
“We needed to win and you never give up,” Price said. “We are warriors. We have been fighting through adversity all year long and winning today showed we have great character.”
Kearney and Price were not the only ones to put together a great game. Senior Maliq Sanders scored 18 and junior Matt Green also scored 18 points with seven rebounds.
The Profs are set to play at William Patterson this Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 8 p.m., as they fight to stay in playoff contention.
