The town of Glassboro celebrated breaking ground for The Residents at Academy Row on March 28, a new development of stacked luxury duplexes.
The neighborhood will include 92 residential units and will be located on the intersection of Academy and East High St, according to a statement from Megan Varrell, director of public relations and business development for the Borough of Glassboro.
Genco Development, a real estate development firm, has partnered with Glassboro to give residents the four-story, two-unit stacked duplexes.
Each will have three beds and three bathrooms and lower level units will come with a backyard. Upper level residences can expect a roof deck, according to Momin Sheikh, a managing partner at Genco Development.
The Residences at Academy Row is part of a larger effort to reimagine downtown Glassboro, according to Mayor John E. Wallace III.
“This development truly exemplifies Glassboro’s long-standing vision of creating a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly corridor at the heart of our downtown. The development will consist of luxury condominiums, complemented by designated parking,” said Wallace III in a statement. “Academy Row will drive continued support to our small businesses and assist in attracting new business to Downtown Glassboro.”
According to Sheikh, prices for the duplexes are estimated to start anywhere from the high $300,000s to the low $400,000s. While construction has not started yet, the first homes will look to be completed by winter 2026.
“So we broke ground last week, and we’re hoping to have the first units…delivered in about 10 months,” said Sheikh.
While Glassboro is home to thousands of residents, Genco Development hopes that the Academy Row will be a way to bring in more residents, create new neighborhoods and help continue to build the community.
“This is more than just building buildings. It’s creating a place where people can live well, where neighborhoods take shape, and where everyone is all gonna be proud of what we’re building…we’re excited to build high quality, good looking homes that are attainable for people in the town, to build a community that people are excited to be a part of,” said Sheikh.
