After a magnificent Masters Tournament where Rory McIlroy finally captured his career grand slam, we now head forward with tour season and make our way to Hilton Head, South Carolina for the RBC Heritage, which is one of the bigger tour events that is not a major, as it is worth 700 FedEx Cup points, only 50 points behind all of the majors which are worth 750 points.
Scottie Scheffler won this event last year, with Matt Fitzpatrick and Jordan Speith winning the two years before. Rory McIlroy will not be in the field, but despite that, it will still be very competitive with four of the top five golfers participating according to the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR).
To start, I wouldn’t be opposed to just going with the favorite here in Scottie Scheffler. He played this tournament very well last year, winning by three strokes, and is still looking for that big win this season.
Shane Lowrey is another good option. Has been playing well so far this season, having finished top 10 in three separate events and second at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which ended up being won by his good friend and fellow Irishman in McIlroy. In this course, Lowrey has finished top 10 twice before: No. 9 in 2021 and No. 3 in 2022.
One last pick I like is Russell Henley. Russell is the best on the tour in Distance From Edge of Fairway (DFEF). Harbour Town Golf Links, where the RBC Heritage is being held, is known for its tight fairways and small greens. Russell Henley is great at keeping the ball in the middle of the fairway, hence his DFEF numbers. He is also having a great year, ranking No. 7 in the OWGR. To put the cherry on top, Henley has four top 10 finishes so far this season.
