WILMINGTON, Del. – The Delaware Blue Coats picked up a dominant, 124-105, win on Friday, Nov. 28, over the College Park Skyhawks at the Chase Fieldhouse. The Blue Coats led by as many as 22 points in this contest and only trailed the Skyhawks once when the score was, 3-2, in the first quarter. 

The win is the Blue Coats returned home after going 1-2 over their three game roadtrip. The team dropped two straight games to the Maine Celtics and a two point victory over the Westchester Knicks.

“We did some really great things in that second half to come back and win that game,” head coach JP Clark said. “I was happy to see our group just respond and continue to build on some stuff we did well.”

The Blue Coats outscored the Skyhawks in the first quarter 35-13. A 15-0 run by the Skyhawks in the second quarter cut their deficit to eight, but the Blue Coats responded with a 26-15 run to close out the first half. 

From that point on, the team led by double digits until the end of the game. 

“We got confidence when we came back, so now we just have momentum,” Williams said. “So now we’re just building from it.”

The backcourt led the way for Delaware as Malcolm Hill put up a season-high 25 points. Fellow guard Kennedy Chandler posted his fourth double-double of the season scoring 19 points and dishing out 14 assists.

DeAndre Williams continued his strong start with the Blue Coats, as the first-year member put up 20 points for the third straight game. As a team, the Blue Coats shot well from beyond the arc, going  44% from the 3-point line. 

“Ultimately we need to be as a connected group that shares the ball and continues to find the best shot available,” Clark said. “Offensively, not necessarily the first shot, but the best shot.”

The Blue Coats play the Skyhawks again tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 29. Tip-off from the Chase Fieldhouse is scheduled for 6 p.m.
