WILMINGTON, Del. — Alize Johnson led the Iowa Wolves on Dec. 29 in a blowout, 136-115, win over the Delaware Blue Coats at the Chase Fieldhouse. Johnson scored 40 points in the Coats’ first home game since Dec. 3.

The Blue Coats led by as many as 12 in this contest, but the Wolves were able to pull away for good in the second half. 

“Just too many turnovers,” head coach JP Clark said. “We just need to make it a little harder.”

Malcom Hill led the Blue Coats with 24 points and went 6-for-10 from three point range.

 MarJon Beauchamp, in his first action since signing a two-way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, tallied 22 points, seven rebounds and 4 assists.

“I’m very thankful and I’m glad I can stay in this area, stay with this team, stay with this organization,” Beauchamp said. “They give me so many opportunities.” 

The Blue Coats returned home to Wilmington following the G-League Winter Showcase in Orlando, Florida. They went 3-4 in non-tournament games over a two-week span.

Johni Broome, who made the All-Showcase Team after his performance in Orlando, had 17 points against Iowa.

The Wolves outscored the Blue Coats, 40-27, in the second quarter to give them a, 72-63, lead at halftime. The Blue Coats were able to get the Iowa lead down to just two, 90-88 at the five-minute mark, but the Wolves pulled away their game-high 23 point lead in the fourth.

“They made a lot of their shots tonight,” head coach JP Clark said. “We have to make their shots more difficult on Wednesday.”

The teams play again Wednesday afternoon for a New Year’s Eve rematch at Chase Fieldhouse.
