Rowan took home their second METS Championship in program history on Friday at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, New York. Out of the 14 teams that competed, the No. 2 nationally ranked Profs were able to total 185 points, beating second place Monmouth, who had 177 points.
The 4×200 relay of Julian Conigliaro, Joudou Diawara, Evan Corcoran, and Elijah Hendricks set a new facility record with their time of 1:25.88. The foursome broke the previous school record of 1:25.45 set last season.
Anthony Parker topped out at 7.35 meters in the long jump in the previous meet at the Dr. Sander Invitational; he went on officially break the university’s record at the METS Championship. Parker’s 7.56 meter first place finish also now moved him up to the number two spot in Division III.
“Rowan’s that type of school. We’re gonna put up points everywhere we can,” Parker said. “I wasn’t expecting to do that well off the bat, but it feels great. I’m looking for that number one spot.”
Head coach Dustin Dimit expects Parker to only continue to get better.
“We’re just expecting him to continue to get better in the long jump,” Dimit said. “Right now, we just want him to focus on being great in that one event, and using that to help the team at the national level.”
Rowan was without some of their top performers as well.
“Guys are continuing to get better every week,” Dimit said. “They come together to achieve more than they could by themselves.”
The 4×400 relay of Luke Halbruner, Marquis Taylor, Teddy Wilson, and Dallas Hohney, now respectively own the new number one time in Division III, at 3:15.05.
The Profs will head back to the Ocean Breeze Complex on Feb. 6 for the Fasttrack Invitational.
