The No. 2 nationally ranked Rowan Profs continued to break records this past Friday as they traveled to the Ocean Breeze Complex for the Fasttrack Invitational in Staten Island, New York. There was no team scoring at the meet.
Junior Seth Clevenger became one of the four student-athletes in Division III history to run a sub-four-minute mile. Clevenger, who ran a 3:59.41, puts him in the number one spot in Division III.
“I want to contribute as much as possible to help the team win the national title,” Clevenger said. “I want to be able to give out 20, 30 points at the national league.”
Clevenger, who’s a transfer student from Iowa, competed in his first race two weeks ago, and it was his first race in two years.
“We’ve been setting him up to run a 5k, which is running this weekend,” head coach Dustin Dimit said. “We wanted to give him a chance to break four.”
Freshman Anthony Parker topped his record-long jump with a 7.62-meter effort. Just last week, Parker set the program record in the long jump with 7.56 meters in the METS Championship.
“He’s really good about things we’re working on in practice, and is figuring out the event really well,” Dimit said. “We think that’s just going to continue to get better when he jumps next week at conference.”
Senior Evan Corcoran moved into ninth-best in the country with a 21.50-second finish in the 200-meter.
The Profs look to have three meets this upcoming weekend.
Rowan will be at Youngstown State, in Youngstown, Ohio, on Friday, as well as Chester, Pennsylvania, for the Widener Indoor Classic. The following day, on Saturday, Rowan will be in the Ott Center in Philadelphia for the Widener Indoor Classic.
