One of the quintessential college experiences throughout a student’s four years of college is eating at the college dining halls. The dining halls on campus not only serve as a way for students to eat their meals throughout the day but also are a good place for students to study, meet new people, or hang out with their friends. At Rowan University, two dining halls serve the same purpose.
The Chamberlain Student Center Marketplace is a take-out marketplace that features the food joints Saxby’s, Jersey Mike’s, Chef Jet, Sono, Grill Nation, Freshens, Sushi Do, Absurd Bird, Crust, Breakfast Co., and Smoked.
Holly Pointe Dining is a sit-in dining hall that is located on the bottom floor of the Holly Pointe dorms. The food options that are included at Holly Pointe Dining Hall include Savor, Table 9 Lite Dinner, Pizza Station, and Daily Grill. Many Rowan students shared their hot takes and ranked each of the dining halls on a scale of one to ten.
Andrew Ubelhoer, a junior management major, rates the Chamberlain Student Center a six out of ten because of the lack of variety. Ubelhoer says Jersey Mike’s is his favorite food venue at the Chamberlain Student Center.
“In my opinion, Jersey Mike’s is the most consistent place in the Student Center,” said Ubelhoer.
Julia Menz, a freshman psychology major, ranks the Chamberlain Student Center a seven out of ten because it doesn’t have a lot of options. Menz rates the Holly Pointe Dining Hall a seven out of ten because it has good food, but finds the meals to be redundant sometimes. Menz finds Saxby’s to be her go-to spot in the dining hall because of the cafe’s drink selection.
“My favorite place to get food at the Student Center is Saxbys because I like the matcha,” said Menz.
Eddie Tunla, a freshman finance major, says that he rates the Holly Pointe Dining Hall an eight and a half out of ten because it has good food and a good environment, and he likes the meal plan.
“My favorite place in the Holly Pointe Dining Hall is Savor because it has the best food options,” said Tunla.
Tunla ranks the Chamberlain Student Center an eight and a half out of ten because it has good quality food.
“My favorite food place to get food at the Student Center is Grilled Nation because it has the best food options on campus,” said Tunla.
Cole Lucarelli, a freshman business and marketing major, rates the Holly Pointe Dining Hall an eight and a half out of ten due to the fresh food options
“Savor has the best food options on campus, especially during breakfast,” said Lucarelli.
Lucarelli rates the Chamberlain Student Center an eight out of ten due to food quality.
“I usually don’t go to the Student Center that much on campus, but if I get Student Center Chef, Jet is my go-to since I like Chinese food and the chicken is good,” said Lucarelli.
At the end of the day, the debate between Holly Pointe Dining Hall and the Student Center came down to the quality of food at each location.
