One of the many convenient meal options on campus is a nice, warm bagel.
There are two bagel spots that students often frequent, Ry’s Bagels on Rowan Boulevard next to the 7-Eleven and Einstein’s Bros. Bagels on the first floor of the Engineering Hall.
With both shops being on completely different sides of the campus, there is a debate on whether each spot has the better overall experience when it comes to students’ palates.
Senior mechanical engineer, Alexis Allen, prefers Einstein’s multiple choices as well as the relationship between the students and employees.
“Einstein’s has a large variety where I can get to eat breakfast no matter what time, and the deli selection lets me have even more options instead of Ry’s. Also, I think it’s helpful that the employees are very accommodating to the students and orders, too, if anything needs to be fixed,” Allen said.
Allen also shared that her go-to bagel is the Pepperoni chicken without the cheese and onion, but you have to add bacon and extra spread to “hold the flavors together.”
Junior civil engineer, Analiz Caba, would rather have Ry’s Bagels for its quality and overall taste.
“Ry’s has better quality bagel bread since they are always fresh and soft. Einstein’s bagels usually are hard to chew and the flavors don’t feel strong sometimes,” said Caba. “At least Ry’s bagels are warm and feel more satisfying to enjoy.”
Caba’s go-to order is the Philly cheesesteak bagel, and he found the price point worth the food in return.
“When I went to Ry’s close to the time they closed, my egg and cheese felt thrown together, and I didn’t enjoy it as much as I would have thought,” said senior studio art major, Arianna Arango. “It was most likely not my preference but when I went to Einstein’s, the bagel was more put together and was way more enjoyable to eat for me.”
Arango also shared that she liked that she could order from a bigger selection of snacks and sides along with her meal, as she would like to go again soon when she has the chance.
Senior mechanical engineer James Lee has an undecided take between the two bagel shops, but it comes from a place of convenience.
“Even though Einstein’s is easily accessible to me, Ry’s has more of a ‘home cooked’ style and I do think it tastes better because of how it’s made. However, Einstein’s allows me to get something other than breakfast when I’m spending most of my day on campus,” said Lee.
With a varying range of different perspectives, you should consider next time what you should get when you’re craving a bagel sandwich.
